World events affect business decisions

I deliver data and interpretation-led geopolitical and regulatory risk briefs for investors and businesses. Rather than summarising events, I focus on second-order effects, hidden exposure, and market transmission mechanisms to identify risks and opportunities ahead of consensus narratives

Profile

Lara Isabella Westra

I analyse how shifts in political power, foreign policy, capital flows, and everything in between create risks and opportunities for companies, investors, and institutions operating across borders.

Much of how I read the world comes from my background. Born in Switzerland, raised in Canada, and shaped by five years in the Netherlands as a teenager, I grew up moving between cultures and systems. That early exposure drew me to International Relations, taught me to adapt quickly to new people, norms, and ways of thinking.

I've worked closely with founders and supported reputation management at a top-tier investment bank, building a grounded understanding of regulation, markets, and risk. What I'm known for is thinking a step further, tracing the second- and third-order effects, and turning complex information into something clear and usable.

If your organisation is navigating a complex geopolitical environment and needs someone who can translate complexity into decision-relevant intelligence, let's talk.
